Social Media Influencers

When it comes to marketing through social media in 2016, when the article is from I think using influencers was the way to go. While I personally do not like any of those influencers and probably would not buy one single product they tried to sell if I were young and naive maybe I would have. Certain up and coming influencers now often have a lot more honesty and while they may not be working with specific brands one post can cause a frenzy to sell a singular product out without the company even doing anything. This type of marketing while extremely intelligent can also go very poorly. For example if the product being sold is awful and you have a huge influencer sharing it, if everyone hates it that person one loses credibility but they also most likely want give the company a chance ever again. When something like this happens especially to millions of people it results in scandals and both influencers and companies having to release apologies and refunds. While every company may think their products are amazing that's not always the case.

Influencers get the name of the brand and or the product circulating to their followers but how many people are interacting with a simple post? If it's consistently posted about and seems genuine people are most likely going to give the item or service a shot if it interests them. Consumers want to see the product in everyday life and or how successful or helpful the item is. Most people who have money to spend are going to want to see proof before buying something off the word of someone they only know on the internet.  Since this article is quite old, it is important to note that social media is forever changing take a look at big names on Tiktok for example most sports teams, Duolingo, Scrub Daddy, all of these brands have great social media teams and consumers love their content and interaction. Responding not only to consumers on their accounts but also interacting with other influencers gets their name out there with a positive connotation. People love to see brands with a lighthearted attitude especially when it comes to social media. Consumers want to be able to feel as though they can relate to brands and see those who are running it are actually everyday people.  Consumers actually feel like they are seeing a company's true colors rather than hearing a recommendation from someone who is paid to say so. Having an amazing product and offering it to influencers for free could lead to a better relationship between company, consumer, and influencer as the reviews are going to be more genuine when money is not involved. I think it's also important for companies to pick influencers carefully, when we look at some of those influencers mentioned in the article some have had scandals specifically Logan Paul and his brother Jake. It's important for companies to find influencers that fit in with their brand and have the same morals for a better consumer review. The strategy is there but it's all about the execution and who you involve yourself with as a company.
